Poison of The Month – Snow Leopard Vodka

Poison of The Month - Snow Leopard Vodka

We like our vodka martinis shaken… not stirred, just like the 007 stud himself.

Launch date:

Introduced to the South African market in 2015.

How it’s made:

Snow Leopard Vodka is the first of its kind. The award-winning taste is the result of a combination of a rare, natural spelt grain and pure spring water. Spelt has a distinct nutty, fresh taste, and is grown without the use of pesticides or fertilizers.

It is typically five times the price of other grains used in premium vodka production. The vodka is hand crafted in small batches, and undergoes a complex 6 stage distillation process, using natural spring water drawn from an artesian well. The spirit is filtered twice over charcoal, to produce a soft, smooth and full bodied, exceptional tasting vodka.

Flavours:

It has a fresh floral and anise aroma, with a rich body of creamy vanilla, nut and spice flavours.

Cool fact:

15% of profits goes directly to the Snow Leopard Trust, to support their cause of protecting endangered Snow Leopards.Price: Around R438 a bottle.

Try one:

The Stack in Cape Town or Wishbone in Sandton, Johannesburg.

Best cocktail:

The Conservation Martini

Rinse a martini glass with 25ml Noilly Prat Dry Vermouth. Stir in 75ml of chilled Snow Leopard Vodka, and garnish with a sprig of rosemary.
